Turning Handwriting Into Gifts

Using your Cricut to turn handwriting into a gift for someone in your family is a great, unique way to preserve something meaningful.

STEP 1 : CAPTURING THE HANDWRITING

You can capture the handwriting in one of two ways: take a photo of it with your cell phone or camera, or if it is on something flat enough, you can scan it using your printer.

STEP 2 : EDITING THE HANDWRITING IN PHOTOSHOP

This step is essential and where most of the work needs done. The handwriting should be thick enough to make weeding and application a breeze, and the edges should be smooth enough to not make the cut jagged and harder on the blade during cutting.

STEP 3 : WEEDING AND APPLYING THE HTV OR VINYL TO YOUR MATERIAL

With the difficult steps over, now you can weed the vinyl or HTV and apply it to your material of your choice.

Note: Cricut makes this handy iron-on guide if you have the heat press where you choose the material, vinyl, and whether you’re using their mat or a towel, and you’ll know what temperature and time your heat press needs to be set to!
